Supporting Dreamtec Systems — 280-Unit Rugged Handheld Supply for an Irish Bakery Rollout
The Challenge
Dreamtec Systems was engaged by their bakery customer to deliver a nationwide rugged mobility rollout — standardising how delivery drivers and warehouse staff captured data across a large, distributed operation. The project called for a single rugged Android platform, centrally managed, phased in over a year or more without disrupting daily operations. Dreamtec owned the customer relationship, the solution design, the software stack, and the deployment. What they needed from a distributor was a reliable trade supply partner: the right hardware at the right specification, held locally, available to call off in waves to match their deployment schedule.
Our Solution
IO Resource supplied 280 Urovo DT50 rugged handhelds to Dreamtec on a trade-only basis. The DT50 — an enterprise Android device with integrated 1D/2D scanner, high-capacity battery, 4G connectivity, and an IP-rated chassis — was specified by Dreamtec for its balance of ruggedness, scanning performance, and total cost of ownership across a multi-year refresh cycle. Our involvement stayed behind the scenes, which is exactly how the trade-only model works. Dreamtec led the software implementation, the SOTI MobiControl estate, the on-site deployment, and all customer-facing activity from day one. Where we added value was on the supply side: local stock held throughout the programme, so Dreamtec could call off batches of devices to match each deployment wave — no international lead-time risk, no pressure to pre-purchase the full fleet, and a clean warranty/RMA path for the life of the hardware.
The Outcome
Dreamtec completed the rollout on schedule over 12–14 months — a successful, standardised mobility estate delivered to their customer, with IO Resource supplying the hardware in the background throughout. For Dreamtec, the trade supply side of the project ran without friction: stock was there when they needed it, call-off was flexible, and the warranty/RMA path is in place for the life of the fleet.
