The NCR CX8 all-in-one POS terminal is no longer available to order through IO Resource. If you run CX8 tills today, or you were specifying the CX8 for a new project, this guide covers the replacement options we supply and support — and what to check before you swap units on a live estate.
Staying with NCR Voyix — the natural successors
The NCR Voyix CX7ii is the current terminal in the same family and the natural CX8 successor: a modern all-in-one with the same fit at the counter, supplied and configured by IO Resource with warranty and RMA handled from Ireland. For lighter-duty lanes or smaller counters, the NCR CX5 covers the compact end of the range. Staying in-family keeps the operator experience, mounting patterns and peripheral ecosystem close to what your staff and your estate already know.
Cross-brand alternatives worth pricing
If the refresh is a chance to re-tender the hardware, we stock credible all-in-one alternatives: the POSBANK APEXA series (fanless, compact, strong value for multi-lane rollouts) and the Advantech-Aures Sango (a design-led terminal for customer-facing counters). Both ship pre-configured from Irish stock. We will price them side-by-side with the CX7ii so the decision is yours on fit and budget, not on what happens to be available.
Before you migrate — three checks
- Peripherals: confirm your printers, scanners, cash drawers and customer displays carry over — most do, but interface mixes (USB / RS-232 / powered USB) vary by terminal generation.
- Software image: your POS software vendor should confirm OS and driver support for the replacement terminal before the first unit ships. We pre-stage to their spec.
- Mounting and counters: check footprint and pole/VESA mounts against the new unit — we can advise per model.
