NCR RealPOS 7197 & 71xx Printers — End of Sale: Replacements

The NCR RealPOS printer family — the 7197 and 7199 thermal receipt printers, the two-sided 7198, and the 7167/7168 multifunction units — is no longer available to order through IO Resource. Replacing them is straightforward: modern thermal receipt printers are faster, quieter and easier to source, and they connect to the same POS systems. Here is what we fit in their place.

The standard replacement: Bixolon SRP-350plusV

For the classic 7197/7199 role — thermal receipt printing at a staffed till — the Bixolon SRP-350plusV is our standard recommendation: fast 80 mm thermal printing, reliable auto-cutter, and the interface options POS estates need. It ships from Irish stock, configured and test-printed before dispatch.

Alternatives by use case

The Epson TM-m30III suits compact and tablet-POS counters, and the Epson TM-L90II covers label-capable receipt roles. Where an impact printer is genuinely required — kitchen orders in heat-affected environments — the Bixolon SRP-275III is the like-for-like impact option. For the two-sided and multifunction 7167/7168 roles there is no single modern equivalent; tell us what the printer actually does in your workflow (receipt, validation, slip) and we will spec the closest current combination.

Migration notes

1. Drivers: the replacement printers use standard Windows / OPOS / JavaPOS drivers — your POS vendor confirms the driver swap, we pre-configure the hardware.
2. Interfaces: check per till whether you run USB, serial or Ethernet — all are available across the range.
3. Media: standard 80 mm thermal rolls carry over in most cases.
