Start with the input method
The Urovo DT40 deserves a place on the shortlist when physical keys are central to the job. Urovo specifies a four-inch screen and a full keypad. Zebra’s TC22/TC27 specification describes a six-inch touchscreen with an on-screen keypad. The practical choice is whether operators mainly scan and enter short codes, or need more screen space for forms and visual instructions.
Check the whole application
Run the actual stock, picking or service application on the proposed device. Ask operators to complete a representative task, including corrections and exceptions. Test scanning with the labels used on site, and include gloves if they are part of the work. A familiar screen size or a higher headline specification cannot establish application suitability by itself.
Specify the rollout before comparing quotes
Separate TC22 and TC27 connectivity requirements rather than treating them as one configuration: Zebra distinguishes the TC22’s wireless local networking from the TC27’s additional cellular connectivity. Ask for the exact device configuration, supported Android version, security-support term, charging accessories and repair arrangements. Confirm availability for Ireland or the UK against the quotation. Compare the complete deployment cost, including setup, accessories and support, before selecting either platform.
